Crime is a work of art — that's the pitch behind Vinci (2004), a Polish caper comedy worth watching online on iFILM. The film comes from Juliusz Machulski, the director who turned charming swindlers into a national pastime. At its center is a thief nicknamed Cuma, fresh out of prison.

His release has strings attached. A corrupt doctor arranges Cuma's probation on one condition: steal Leonardo da Vinci's Lady with an Ermine from a Kraków museum for a shadowy dealer. The job needs a partner, so Cuma tracks down his old accomplice Julian, only to learn the man has gone straight and now carries a police badge. One heist plan, two men on opposite sides of the law, and a painting that can't be scratched or lost.

Robert Więckiewicz and Borys Szyc play the duel with an easy, unhurried touch, and the real pleasure lies in guessing who outmaneuvers whom on the final turn. Machulski mixes his trademark cocktail of slick plotting, dry wit and retro style. It will land with anyone who enjoys smart robbery stories where elegance matters more than the loot.
