Synopsis
The Invisibles (Les Invisibles, 2019) is a French tragicomedy by Louis-Julien Petit you can watch online on iFILM. The city is shutting down a daytime shelter for homeless women, leaving its social workers just three months to ease the residents back into ordinary life.
There's no playbook, no budget and no help from above, so Audrey, Manon and their colleagues resort to bending rules, faking paperwork and telling small lies — anything to land these women a job and a roof. The shelter regulars adopt the names of celebrities and hold out longer than anyone expects. Many of the 'invisibles' are played by non-professional actresses who lived on the street themselves, and you can hear it in every line.
Petit makes a social drama that knows how to be funny without turning hardship into a punchline. Audrey Lamy and Corinne Masiero keep the tone poised between anger and tenderness. It's for anyone who loves French stories about small people with outsized hearts. Stream The Invisibles online on iFILM.
