Kitchen Brigade

Kitchen Brigade (La Brigade, 2022) is a French dramedy you can watch online on iFILM. Cathy Marie has spent years chasing her own restaurant, but the money runs out, and a mountain of debt forces her to take a job cooking in the canteen of a shelter for underage migrants.

She loathes it at first. The teenagers have no papers, barely any French and no idea what comes next, and the kitchen is a battered, underfunded mess. Audrey Lamy plays a brittle, burned-out chef who slowly realizes these kids respond to her more than any Michelin dining room ever did. François Cluzet is the shelter manager keeping the place afloat on goodwill alone. Director Louis-Julien Petit avoids easy sentiment: discipline, cutting boards and a pot of stock become the way these abandoned boys start feeling human again.
