Synopsis
The Olsen Gang Runs Amok (Olsen-banden går amok, 1973) is a Danish crime comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Erik Balling. It opens, as ever, with scrawny Egon Olsen walking out of Vridløse prison with a fresh masterplan.
This round the crew falls apart. Sensible Benny and Kjeld have taken honest jobs in a shop and want nothing to do with another scheme. So Egon teams up with Dynamite-Harry instead, the plan predictably buckles, and his innocent friends end up facing a cell in his place.
Ove Sprogøe is back as Egon, a bowler-hatted stubborn man who trusts his blueprint more than gravity itself. The film runs on contrast: the straight life is dull, the crime is hopeless, and together they make a farce where everything collapses on cue. The ending, true to form, flips the whole thing over.
