The Same Sky (Season 1)

The Same Sky (Der gleiche Himmel, 2017) is a German spy drama series you can watch online on iFILM. The setting is 1970s divided Berlin: Lars, a young East German Stasi operative, is sent west on a Romeo mission — to seduce a woman with access to classified intelligence and extract whatever she knows.

Romeo agents were a real Stasi program, and the series doesn't smooth that fact over. Lars is trained, methodical, and prepared for emotional distance. What he isn't prepared for is Loren, who turns out to be a far more complicated target than the briefing suggested. Tom Schilling and Sofia Helin — the latter known from The Bridge — build a relationship where neither character can fully tell the operation from the reality.
