To Love Ru (Seasons 1–4)

To LOVEru (2008) is a Japanese sci-fi comedy anime series you can watch online on iFILM. Studio Xebec adapted the manga by Saki Hasemi and Kentaro Yabuki, with directors Yukio Kuroda and Tsuyoshi Nagasawa steering the bulk of the episodes.

High schooler Rito Yuuki has spent years failing to confess to his crush Haruna. Then one night a pink-haired girl with a pointed tail crashes into his bathtub — Lala, the runaway princess of planet Deviluke. Her father wants her back home and married off. Lala's counter-move: declare Rito her fiancé on the spot, without asking. From there, Rito's quietly miserable school life explodes into a chain of interplanetary rivals, royal suitors, and spectacularly bad timing.

The show spawned multiple sequels, including the Darkness arc and several OVA runs, building out into one of the longer-running rom-com franchises in anime. It does exactly what the genre promises — escalating absurdity and a crowd of competing love interests — and does it without pretending to be anything else.
