Synopsis
"Tobruk" (1967), directed by Arthur Hiller — watch online on iFILM. Rock Hudson and George Peppard lead a taut WWII commando thriller set in the North African desert, September 1942.
Rommel's Afrika Korps has pushed the Allies deep into Egypt, and the German fuel depots at Tobruk are keeping the advance alive. British Major Craig (Hudson) and Captain Bergman (Peppard) — who commands a unit of German Jews fighting under British cover — are handed a near-impossible mission: 800 miles through enemy-held desert disguised as a German column, with a single objective, blow the tanks dry. Hiller plays the friction between the two leads as straight as the desert horizon, and it is that tension, not the action set pieces, that carries the film. Stream "Tobruk" (1967) online on iFILM.
