Human Flow
When there is nowhere to go, nowhere is home.
Synopsis
Human Flow (2017) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM. Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei spent a year crossing 23 countries to film the largest displacement of people since the Second World War.
More than 65 million people had been forced from their homes — by famine, conflict, climate collapse — and Weiwei followed individual threads of that number across Afghanistan, Greece, Germany, Iraq, France and beyond. He shoots with drones and close-ups, macro and personal, moving from Princess Dana of Jordan to a child in a Bangladeshi delta within the same sequence. The scale is staggering. The individual moments are what stay.
Weiwei took home the Silver Lion at the 2017 Venice Film Festival. The tagline he chose carries the film's argument without commentary: when there is nowhere to go, nowhere is home. Stream Human Flow (2017) online on iFILM.
