Synopsis

The girl nurses a badly beaten Doberman back to health; the dog had been thrown off a bridge after losing a pit fight. When a mob-connected in-law frames Bobby and reaches for custody, father and daughter flee cross-country to Los Angeles. The dog finds them anyway.
Travolta made this between Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction, in a stretch of unglamorous roles that tend to get overlooked. It's a small film — part crime drama, part family story — and the bond between the girl and the dog does more heavy lifting than the thriller plot around it.
