Das Boot (2018) is a WWII drama and a sequel to Wolfgang Petersen's classic, and you can watch it online on iFILM. The war plays out on two fronts: inside a cramped submarine and along the occupied French coast.

It's 1942. The Allies have cracked Enigma, resistance cells are stirring, and a new captain, Klaus Hoffmann, takes an under-trained, mistrustful crew out into the Atlantic. Onshore in La Rochelle a second thread unfolds, as a young translator is caught between duty to Germany and the French Resistance. Tom Wlaschiha and Vicky Krieps play people the war is slowly backing into corners.

Directed by Andreas Prochaska and Dennis Gansel with an international team, the show makes the claustrophobia of a steel hull as frightening as the depth charges outside it. This is a story about boys sent to die in a war nobody wins — grim, with none of the heroic gloss. It's for viewers who like their war drama harsh and for anyone who remembers the 1981 original.
