Synopsis
17 Girls (17 filles, 2011) is a French drama from sisters Delphine and Muriel Coulin, ready to watch online on iFILM. In a sleepy seaside town, sixteen-year-old Camille gets pregnant by accident — and instead of panicking, she dares her friends to get pregnant too.
Her classmates take it up like a promise of freedom: they'll raise the babies together, never drift apart, never end up like their worn-out mothers. Seventeen schoolgirls, one pact, and a small conservative town loses its footing. Teachers, doctors and parents have no idea how to respond. The girls themselves hover between playing at adult life and staging a real revolt against a future that offers them nothing.
The Coulin sisters drew on the real Gloucester pregnancy pact and moved it to the French coast, trading any lecture for a quiet portrait of teenage solidarity, naive and desperate at once. Esther Garrel and Louise Grinberg play it straight, without a false beat. Stream 17 Girls online on iFILM.
