Synopsis

Men land in a Soviet-style construction battalion for all sorts of reasons. One is dodging a criminal case, another washed out of the marines after an injury, a third trained as a bricklayer at a trade school, and the fourth is a bookish student kicked out for brawling. There is no combat drill here — just endless building sites and unit commander Vasily Arkhipov, whose firm ideas about service earned the place the nickname "Uncle Vasya's Troops."
From there it's army life with everything attached: absurd scrapes, friendship, romance, breakups and a few unexpectedly warm moments on duty. Georgy Martirosyan, Ilya Iosifov and Dmitry Gudochkin fill out the cast. Broad, undemanding humor for anyone who served or just grew up on construction-battalion lore.
