Synopsis
The Gorgon (1964) is a Hammer gothic horror you can watch online on iFILM. In a remote Central European village in the early 1900s, people keep turning up dead, their bodies hardened to stone.
The locals bury the truth under any excuse they can find, but the real cause stalks the grounds of a ruined castle: under the full moon a living Gorgon walks, and a single glance of hers turns flesh to granite. A young man named Paul (Richard Pasco) arrives to learn how his brother and father died, crossing paths with two Hammer mainstays — Peter Cushing as a guarded doctor and Christopher Lee as a sharp-tongued professor, the pair playfully swapping their usual roles.
Terence Fisher leans on fog, moonlight and slow dread rather than gore, while Barbara Shelley lends the tale a strange sadness — this monster plays as tragic more than vile. Lesser-known yet among the studio's most atmospheric pictures, it's a treat for anyone who loves vintage British horror. Stream The Gorgon (1964) online on iFILM.
