Synopsis
Noriko's Dinner Table (2005) — a Japanese drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Sion Sono. At 159 minutes, it runs as a companion piece to his Suicide Club, told in two alternating voices: Noriko, who ran away from her family, and Yuka, the younger sister who went to find her.
Noriko grew up in Toyokawa feeling like a stranger in her own house. The internet forum Haikyo.com gave her the one connection that felt real — a woman named Kumiko, who went by the alias Ueno Station 54. Noriko leaves without a word. Months later, 54 high-school girls jump in front of a subway train on the same day, and Yuka starts tracing the line back to her sister's disappearance. Sono is interested in what happens when an online community becomes more of a family than the people at the dinner table — and how quietly that substitution can turn lethal.
