Synopsis
The Million Dollar Hotel (2000) is a German-American drama directed by Wim Wenders — watch it online on iFILM. The screenplay came from a story by Bono, with U2 providing the score, and the cast includes Mel Gibson, Milla Jovovich, and Jeremy Davies.
FBI agent Skinner arrives at a crumbling Los Angeles hotel to investigate the death of a media mogul's son, who fell from the roof. The residents are the city's forgotten: addicts, eccentrics, people who slipped through every net society offered. Tom Tom, one of the hotel's most peculiar tenants, is in love with Eloise — and it's through his fractured narration that the story unspools, blending the detective plot with something closer to a fable.
Wenders is far more interested in the people than the case, and the Silver Bear he took home from the Berlin Film Festival suggests the jury agreed. The result is slow, strange, and deliberately off-kilter — not a thriller, but a melancholy portrait of lives lived at the margins. Stream The Million Dollar Hotel (2000) online on iFILM.
